I’m Julia, the designer/maker behind The Small Things Jewellery.
It’s fair to say I’ve had a fairly varied background - from law to makeup artistry, and now silversmithing for jewellery making. I believe in following your curiosity - and since discovering jewellery making I’ve been hooked.
I love the limitless possibility of designing jewellery as well as the process of making it by hand. There is something very satisfying about bringing something imagined in your head to life.
Every piece of The Small Things Jewellery is designed and made by me in my home studio in Auckland, which means production is small, VERY small. If you walk down the street and someone is wearing the same piece of The Small Things jewellery as you - it’s probably me! So do say hi.
I love working with sterling silver and 9ct gold, raw crystals and freshwater pearls.
I love the imperfect and the slightly off centre. I don't believe in perfection but I do believe in quality. I work to maintain a low waste studio and often produce designs using recycled metal or metal offcuts.
The biggest thrill and the reason I do this is to create beautiful pieces that people will love, and I hope you will love them too.
